Amistad

 

Impounded in 1969, Amistad Reservoir, also known as the “Blue Jewel”, is located 12 miles northwest of Del Rio, Texas within Val Verde County.  With 64,900 acres of water this reservoir is fed by the Pecos, Rio Grande, and the Devil’s Rivers, along with several natural springs.  Normal pool is 1117 ft. with fluctuation of the water depending on the amount of rainfall and it’s down stream irrigation demands. 

 

This reservoir features crystal clear water with painted canyons, cliffs, flats, grassy coves, rock ledges along with steep rocky drop offs with submerged trees and brush, with hydrilla being the predomiate vegetated cover.

  

 
Amistad Reservoir is know amongst anglers as being the lake to be on for catching large quantities of large mouth bass along with hooking into a fish of a lifetime on any given day.
